Limits on ourselves

What we will not do

Any party can list things it disapproves of. What matters is whether breaking the promise costs anything. Each commitment below names the mechanism that enforces it, so breaking it means visibly dismantling something rather than quietly changing its mind.

  1. 1

We will not use religion to divide Indians.

    How it is enforced

No religion field is collected, stored or used for targeting. Announcement targeting is limited to verified geography.

  2. 2

We will not use caste to divide citizens.

    How it is enforced

No caste field exists in the data model. There is nothing to query.

  3. 3

We will not exploit students for political crowds.

    How it is enforced

Student volunteers default to online-only roles with a workload cap and an exam-period pause.

  4. 4

We will not pressure people to participate.

    How it is enforced

Every event and task is opt-in. Declining is never recorded as a negative performance event.

  5. 5

    We will not promote violence.

    How it is enforced

Violent content is a hard moderation block that escalates to legal review.

  6. 6

We will not encourage destruction of public property.

    How it is enforced

Gathering events require a safety plan, permissions and public conduct rules before publication.

  7. 7

We will not treat volunteers as disposable.

    How it is enforced

Volunteer protection: code of conduct, grievance mechanism, score appeals, protected good-faith reporting.

  8. 8

We will not make impossible promises.

    How it is enforced

Every manifesto item carries a cost approach, timeline, KPI and risks. Unknown costs are labelled unknown.

  9. 9

We will not hide organisational finances.

    How it is enforced

Separation of duties: no one person can receive, approve, spend and reconcile the same money.

  10. 10

We will not ask citizens to trust us blindly.

    How it is enforced

Challenge Our Thinking is a permanent, public feature. Changed positions are published, not buried.

  11. 11

We will not make AI the final decision-maker.

    How it is enforced

AI output is advisory by construction. High-risk actions refuse to execute without a recorded human review.

  12. 12

We will not give permanent ownership of leadership to one person.

    How it is enforced

Two-term limit counted on a position equivalence key, so renaming a post does not reset the count.

Two of these are structural, not procedural

“We will not use religion to divide Indians” and “we will not use caste to divide citizens” are enforced by absence: there is no religion field and no caste field anywhere in the database. A future leadership that wanted to run a community-targeted campaign could not simply change a setting. They would have to amend the Constitution, change the database schema, and start collecting data they do not have, all of which is visible.

We also accept the cost of that. Not collecting caste data means we cannot measure whether our own organisation is representative. We think that is the right trade, and someone has already challenged us on it.
